  • Is admission to sunflower fields and butterfly house included in my stay?
    Yes, you have admissions for both guests to both sunflower fields and butterfly house during your stay. Availability is dependent on season.
  • Are the sunflower fields and butterfly house available all year round?
    The sunflower fields and butterfly house are seasonal. The best time of year to visit to see both these amazing sites is around January-February. The growth and bloom of the sunflowers is largely dependent on weather. Therefore we cannot guarantee dates. The butterfly house is also usually only available between December to March. This may also likely slightly vary each year. We recommend contacting us closer to the time for an update on opening dates.
  • Can we access the sunflower fields and butterfly house whenever we want during our stay?
    Access to the sunflower fields and butterfly house is included in your stay and you can visit an unlimited number of times during your booking. However, we do have opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-4.30pm. Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9am- sunset. CLOSED ON TUESDAYS. During the weekdays (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays) 5pm-8pm is reserved for exclusive private bookings (sunflower fields only). We ask you please do not visit the sunflower fields during this time. If you would like to book a private session for a photoshoot, proposal, or simply to enjoy the fields without anyone else present, then please book via Franklin Farm website (additional cost) https://www.franklinfarm.nz/
  • How far are the sunflower fields and butterfly house from the farm stay?
    The sunflower fields and butterfly house is located across the road on our main farm. It is about a 3 minute walk to the butterfly house and 5 minute walk to the sunflower fields.
  • Can we explore the rest of the farm?
    We are a busy working farm and we have large machinery and equipment operating daily. Therefore for your safety, we kindly request you do not wander around the rest of the farm.
  • Can we pick the produce?
    We welcome you to pick the sunflowers and spray-free sweetcorn (availability dependent). Any produce picked will incur an additional cost. We request that you do not pick the celery.
  • Is the Farm Stay suitable for those with limited mobility?
    No, as the the main bedroom of the Farm Stay is located on the second floor. Those with limited mobility may not find this accommodation suitable.
  • How many people does the farm stay sleep?
    There is one queen bed in the bedroom at the farm stay. Two adults would comfortably stay.
  • Is there anything else we should know about Rustic Kiwi Farm Stay?
    During our busy season (December to March), the paddock beside the Farm Stay may be used for overflow parking for the sunflower fields and butterfly house.
